Halfway through the month, I can honestly say that I was ill-prepared for this writing challenge. I am a planner when it comes to writing because I am particular when it comes to details… I hate inconsistencies. I hate plot holes. I even hate inconsistent wardrobe changes in movies.
So what I should have done is took the month of October and outlined what I was going to write in November. “Well, why didn’t you?” you may ask. Well I didn’t because I felt as though that would have been cheating. However, it’s widely practiced and acceptable in the community. The actual planning is the hard part. That’s the part that takes the time and creativity. Anyone can churn out 50,000 words. But if you can push out 50,000 words in 30 days, with minimal inconsistencies, I owe you all of my literary respect. I believe that I can do it… with enough practice.
Pantser and planners at the two types writers who participate in NaNoWriMo. For a more detailed description of the two, click HERE. I’m a planner being forced to pants my way through the second half of this month. I’m having fun doing so, but if there’s a better way to do something, I would much rather take that route.
Hope all is well with you other writers reaching for your target.
